The Christian Life is Impossible/The Christian Life is Simple

Is there a contradiction to this title? Yes! It is a fact that both statements are true. When we understand that God gave His law so that we could recognize the impossibility of overcoming our sin, we are poised for a breakthrough. First and foremost, God’s Word makes it abundantly clear that we cannot overcome sin’s condition through our own self-effort. If it were possible, we would have done it many years ago.

God knew this and gave His law to expose our problem and then set up the provision to answer our need. Jesus became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) and a curse (Galatians 3:13) taking on the fullness of our problem. Then, when we receive this payment, God offers His Spirit to lead us into receiving everything He has made available.
